Artist Statement

My photographs explore the concept of solitude with lonely tendencies. This feeling affects how I view the world around me. Through photography, I construct my photographs as a way to demonstrate my feelings of solitude and loneliness through self-portraits and landscapes. Following my graduation from high school and the pandemic, feelings of isolation and being forgotten arose as I watched people excel in their personal lives through social media. I realized, through my photography, I wanted to show the true side of life: not everything is as it seems.

Photography creates a space where the subject and its immediate surroundings are questioned. When I view my own photographs, I question its integrity and whether it shows what I want to say. Through my photography I want the viewer to decipher the solitude they may see and the loneliness they may feel.
